The winner of last year’s Orkney Islander magazine competition

Sheffield couple Susan Tavernor and Andrew Morrison were the delighted winners of last Islander.year’s competition in the Orkney “We came for the first time this summer and absolutely loved it,” Susan said, upon hearing she had won last year.

She was “absolutely over the moon” to find out she had won the break for two in Orkney.

The prize included return flights from Loganair, a stay at the Albert Hotel, a courtesy hire vehicle from Drive Orkney, and a tour with Orkney Uncovered’s Kinlay Francis.

“We obviously wanted to come back — and I would love to move there, to be honest — but we never thought we would be able to come back so quickly,” the former teacher of English added.

After spending a stunning fortnight in Sanday last year, the couple are keen to explore Westray and Hoy on their return.
